Third child arrested on theft charge released from Hyderabad jail
Two amid the three children arrested on the charge of theft here have been released late at night on the orders of Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, the Chief justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, while the third one jailed was freed early this morning.
Sindh Home minister, Rauf Siddiqui also taking a serious notice of this matter has summoned the concerned police officers and the investigation team.
It may be recalled that the news of the arrest of these children was flashed on Geo News on Monday, which had ultimately succeeded in drawing the attention of the Chief Justice of the apex court, who had ordered for setting the children free immediately.
In compliance with the orders, the District and Session Judge, Zaheeruddin Laghari hurriedly went to Qasimabad police station and released Muzammil, 13 on personal surety. Police on this occasion told him that they have already set free Saeed, 6. However, the Session Judge later visited the child’s house and got it confirmed from the mother of the child.
Thereafter, the Session Judge went to the Central Jail here at 3.00 A.M in the dead of night and gave a written order of grating bail to the child Asad, 13 on personal surety to Superintendent Jail, Muzaffar Alam Siddiqui, who told the session judge that the child could not be released right now, as according to jail laws the inmate could not be set free during the jail closure time. However, he assured that the child would be released in the morning immediately after the opening of the jail.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad ASP Investigation has appointed DSP Headquarters, Zulfiquar Talpur as an enquiry officer for probing into the matters relating to the arrest of the said children. He has also suspended Qasimabad police station’s ASI, Karim Kachar and Head Constable Majid.
Session Judge, Zaheeruddin Laghari told Geo News that he would also be personally investigating into the matters relating the children’s arrest.
Sindh Home Minister, Rauf Siddiqui has summoned Hyderabad Additional DPO, Pervaiz Chandio, Qasimabad Police Station’s SHO and the concerned Investigating officer to Karachi for explanation into the matter. He has also directed I.G. Sindh to probe into the matter and submit report within 24 hours.
